Man wounded by Durham police faces charges

Officers entered a home at 905 Colfax St. to serve a search warrant in a drug case and were confronted by an armed man, police said. Shots were fired – it's unclear whether the man fired on the officers – but no officer was injured.

Rahmil Ingram, 19, of Chapel Hill, was charged Thursday upon his release from a hospital with two counts of assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer and one count each of possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Durham County jail under a $5 million bond.

Police also charged Vincent Gunter, 43, of 905-A Colfax St., with two counts each of possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and sale and delivery of cocaine and one count each of maintaining a dwelling for keeping or selling a controlled substance and felony conspiracy. He was being held in the Durham County jail under a $50,000 bond.

The State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the incident, which is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting. The officers haven't been identified.
