Man, woman rescued from burning Fayetteville home

A 79-year-old woman and 48-year-old man were rescued from a home Friday morning after it caught fire, Fayetteville Fire Department officials said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 79-year-old woman and 48-year-old man were rescued from a home Friday morning after it caught fire, Fayetteville Fire Department officials said. 

Firefighters responding to 990 Wayside Road at about 8:15 a.m. found smoke showing from the single-story home. Crews entered the home and removed the man and woman. 

The fire was quickly extinguished and damaged was contained to the kitchen, but the home was full of smoke. 

The woman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for smoke inhalation, and the man was checked out at the scene. Their names have not been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
