Man with fake mustache robs Fayetteville bank

Posted November 14, 2011

— Police were searching for a man who robbed a Fayetteville bank Monday morning.

A man walked into the First Citizens Bank branch at 126 Broadfoot Ave. at about 9:45 a.m., handed a teller a note demanding money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The robber is described as a light-skinned black man in his teens, about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7, with a slim build. Witnesses said he apparently painted on a fake mustache and goatee, and he had a tattoo of two teardrops under his right eye.

He was wearing a gray Detroit ball cap, a white shirt with gold lettering, light-colored jeans and black Converse shoes with white bottoms.

Police said they are investigating whether the man is linked to other recent bank robberies.

Anyone with information about the First Citizens robbery is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).

Who wants to bet the tatoo was fake also. Common trick, give the people something to focus on, they miss the rest. I'd bet the teller wouldn't be able to id the guy if they showed him to her w/o the mustache/goatee/tatoo. Of course, if he is stupid enuf to have a tatoo on his face, he'll be grabbed before long.

they need to bring back the exploding ink dye packs and put some itching powder or pepper spray in them so the money is useless and it drives the criminals CRAZY! When bank robbery stops being profitable then the criminals will stop robbing banks! Well at least the smart ones will stop. This guy was NOT one of the smart ones.

"I don't understand why they just give these guys the money. for me, 1. you better have that weapon and 2. it better be out and ready to be used. otherwise I am going to kick your but so bad you are going to wish the police had responded faster!- raptor101"

You can play superhero if you want too! BUT if it were ME, there would be no way I would take a bullet for some bank that pays 10 buck an hour. My first thought would be bagging up the money quick to get the robber out of the bank! Let the police and insurance companies figure the rest out!

chairman of the board, if you ever find yourelf in danger, I hope for your sake there is a vigilant fool like me around that will help you and not turn a blind eye as many cowards do now. Yes I may be foolish at times, but I have the guts to do what I think is right. may be my military training that makes me foolish!

Tellers are instructed to hand over the money because the bank doesn't want the liability of a dead teller on their hands. Imagine if your spouse was a teller in a bank and a robber (armed or not) comes in, "sorry scumbag, no money for you" and he reaches across the counter and slits her throat. If she was told by the bank managers to not hand over the money, you would own that bank. If it's a robbery, they're insured and can recoup the money. If they have a homicide on their hands, lawsuits will fly.
