Man wanted in Durham shooting arrested

Durham police have arrested a man who, along his neighbor, faces charges in connection with a November shooting.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have arrested a man who, along his neighbor, faces charges in connection with a November shooting.

Markee Rashad Townes, 18, of 405 E. Pilot St., was arrested Thursday. He and Lemuel Ward, 18, of 412 E. Pilot St., were named as suspects last week in a Nov. 30, 2010, shooting in the parking lot of Ward's apartment complex.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was critically injured.

Townes was placed in the Durham County jail under a $530,000 bond. Ward was being held under a $500,000 bond.

Both men face charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy.

State Department of Correction records show that Townes has a single previous misdemeanor conviction for simple assault.
