Man wanted in Carthage shooting arrested in SC

A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Carthage was arrested in South Carolina late Thursday, according to the Moore County Sheriff's Office.

CARTHAGE, N.C. — A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Carthage was arrested in South Carolina late Thursday, according to the Moore County Sheriff's Office. 

Clio, S.C. police arrested Imani Arlo Gillespie, 28, of 409 S. Saunders St. in Carthage, who is charged in the shooting death of Kenneth Earl Covington, 48. 

Moore County deputies responded to 250 Stoney Creek Drive around 4 p.m. Thursday to investigate a shooting. When they arrived, Covington, of 256 Stoney Creek Drive, was lying in the front yard with gunshot wounds

He was taken to Moore Regional Hospital, where he died.

Gillespie was in the Marlboro County jail early Friday awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
