WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A man died in a fiery Wake County wreck Saturday night on Woodland Road between Raleigh and Garner, N.C. Highway Patrol troopers said.
62-year-old Charles Edward Williams was driving a modified pickup truck for drag racing at high speed when he struck a mailbox, a ditch and two trees.
He was taken to the WakeMed Trauma Unit, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said Williams was not drag racing, and the wreck only involved the one vehicle.
