Christopher Eugene Hill, 34, of Durham, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the shooting outside Los Primos Supermarket on East Main Street.

Multiple callers reported two guns were involved. Some also said they saw a man getting into a white Honda Civic, and someone else reported seeing a man who had been in a red truck who had been shot in the stomach.

Police have not commented on a motive for the shooting or said how the vehicles might have been involved in the crime.

The victim was seriously injured, police have said.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Hill was convicted of second-degree murder in January 2001 and served more than nine years in prison.

Anyone with information on Hill's whereabouts is asked to call the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4281 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
