— The Wake County Sheriff's Office was searching for a man in an olive green or gray Jeep after they say he tried to kidnap a child in Raleigh Wednesday afternoon.

Around 4:45 p.m., authorities received a call about an attempted kidnapping at 3764 Tarheel Club Rd. The child managed to avoid the suspect and return safely home.

The man is white with blond or white hair, in his late 50s and about 6 feet tall, authorities said. He was driving an early 2000 model Jeep Grand Cherokee with yellow brake calipers that are visible through the tire rims.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6911.
