Kinston shooting suspect turns himself in

A man wanted in a weekend shooting in Kinston has turned himself in, authorities said Monday.

KINSTON, N.C. — A man wanted in a weekend shooting in Kinston has turned himself in, authorities said Monday.

Officers from the Kinston Department of Public Safety were searching for Shelton Mason, who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection with a Friday night shooting on East Caswell Street. Jaquel Maurice Dixon, 19, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators said Mason turned himself in about 11:30 a.m. Monday.
