Chapel Hill, N.C. — Campus police at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are looking for a man wanted for breaking into a campus hotel and for trespassing at a dorm over the weekend.
Authorities told students, faculty and staff in an email message early Sunday that the man broke into the Carolina Inn, at 211 Pittsboro St., around 10 p.m. Saturday.
A description of the man was vague, however, police said he was wearing a UNC cap, a dark-blue windbreaker and was carrying a white Carolina Inn laundry bag.
On Friday night, police say, the same man followed a student into Craige Residence Hall, off Manning Drive, and went room-to-room asking people if they ordered a taxi and then lingered. One student said Sunday that she believes he might have been trying to steal students' belongings.
He left when a student called police.
Anyone with information about the two cases should call the UNC Department of Public Safety at 919-962-8100.
