Clayton, N.C. — Clayton police are investigating an attempted robbery at a First Citizens Bank branch Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said a man walked into the bank, at 10702 U.S. Highway 70 W. Business, around 1:30 p.m. and handed a teller a threatening note demanding money.

Investigators said the man never showed a weapon and no one was injured.
Police describe the man as white, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and in his 20s or 30s. He was wearing a white T-shirt, light-colored shorts, sunglasses with orange tint and what authorities described as a "dirty bandana-type head cover."
