CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A man and his son were injured Saturday when the motorcycle they were traveling on was sideswiped by a car, police said.

Jackie Fowter, 81, was traveling in a sports utility vehicle eastbound on Stagecoach Road when she crossed the center line, sideswiping a motorcycle traveling west on Stagecoach Road, police said.

Kenneth Stewart Towne, 53, and his son Jonathan Towne, 14, both of Chapel Hill, were both riding on the motorcycle. Both were ejected from the bike and landed in the ditch. The two were transported to UNC Hospital with broken legs.

Fowter was charged with driving left of center, police said.
