— One person is in the hospital and another is in jail Tuesday after a home invasion in Hoke County last week.

The Hoke County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to 101 White Chapel Lane on June 1 after reports of a break-in. One of the suspects in the home invasion, Gregory Paul Lowrie, had been shot, authorities said.

He remained in critical condition at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville Tuesday.

Over the course of the investigation, the sheriff's office identified several other suspects. One of them, Lora Rose McNeill, was arrested in Fayetteville and taken to the Hoke County jail, where she was being held under a $500,000 bond.

More arrests are expected.

No other information was released.

I am glad that more and more people are standing up and defending themselves again. It seems like there is another one of these stories every week. People need to take care of these guys permamently, the justice system certainly isn't going to do it. Break into my house when anyone is home and you will be lucky if you end up in the Intensive Care Unit.

Proper treatment of a home invader! That is why we have our Castle laws - that suspect is lucky he remains alive. Hopefully he will get to spend the rest of his life in a prison.

Didn't say of the victim did the shooting, what would be funny is if one of the crooks partner shot him.

Maybe if enough criminals find their selves on the business end of A firearm, they will think twice before they go kicking somebody's door in. Got what he deserved.
