Man shot to death in Weldon

A 29-year-old man died after being shot in Weldon late Sunday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office

WELDON, N.C. — A 29-year-old man died after being shot in Weldon late Sunday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responding to calls about a shooting found Brandon Tyrone Peterson, who had been shot, in the 1000 block of Maple Street Extension around 11:45 p.m., authorities said. Peterson was taken to Halifax Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators arrested Kevin Joseph Braxton, 26 and Adrianne Kay Daniel, 26, in connection with the shooting. Both men are being held without bond and will go before a judge Oct. 12.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has also obtained murder warrants for Daniel Staime, 22, and Herman Lee Edwards, 29. Staime is being held in Nassau County, New York without bond.

“I am proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by the investigators in the recent string of murders," Captain L.J. Burch said in a statement. "Because of their dedication and countless hours put in on these investigations, we were able to offer some closure for the families involved."
