Man shot to death at Benson apartment complex
A Benson man was found shot to death early Monday at a local apartment complex, police said.

Officers responding to a reported shooting at Coats Circle Apartments, off North Honeycutt Street in Benson, shortly after midnight found James Arthur Smith Jr. shot in the chest. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Smith, 51, didn't live at the complex, police said.
No charges have been filed in the case.
“Violent crimes are shocking to a community like Benson," Police Chief Kenneth Edwards said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.”
