Man shot, robbed in apartment complex

Police asked for the public's help in solving a shooting and robbery in an apartment complex near TW Alexander Drive and N.C. Highway 55.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police asked for the public's help in solving a shooting and robbery in an apartment complex near TW Alexander Drive and N.C. Highway 55.

A 29-year-old man told police that a man approached him while he was getting out of his car in the 500 block of Falls Pointe Drive in the Falls Pointe at the Park complex around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday.

The robber pulled out a gun and demanded money, investigators said. The victim grabbed for the gun and was shot several times during the ensuing struggle.

The robber took the victim's wallet and necklace, police said.

Paramedics transported the victim, whose name has not been released, to Duke University Medical Center. His injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Police described the robber as a short, heavyset black man in his 20s. He wore a red shirt and blue jeans.
