Man shot multiple times inside Clayton home

Posted April 17, 2013

— A 29-year-old Clayton man was rushed to WakeMed late Tuesday after being shot multiple times during a home invasion, a Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.

Gregory Hinton was in serious condition early Wednesday after undergoing surgery. Authorities said he was shot about 11 p.m. Tuesday after someone kicked in the back door of his home on Big Pine Road.

Hinton's girlfriend was in the home at the time of the shooting, but she was unhurt, authorities said. No arrests have been made.

Hinton has previous arrests for probation violation, attempted first-degree murder, assault on a female and three counts of child abuse, authorities said.

    What goes around...

Just a thought why is someone who was charged with attempted murder not in jail? I am sure whomever did this to him is in his circle. Lay down with dogs, you get flees.

It may be that he brought this on himself, but it could also be a random home invasion that could have been any one of us. Go ahead and throw stones if it makes you feel better, but the intruder is the bad guy in this situation. We shouldn't be giving criminals a free pass just because this time they happened to target another criminal.

Because this man was a victim, attacked in his home, I don't think his criminal record is relevant to the story AT THIS TIME. Something may come out later, but let's hold off judgement until then, please.

Prior arrests for attempted first-degree murder, assault on a female, and three counts of child abuse....Uh, Sounds like payback to me.

sounds like someone tried to take care of what our 'justice' system failed to do.
and now our tax dollars (or insurance premiums) will be hit for at least $50,000 in medical bills too.
    what a system we have.

I wonder what the shooter's rap sheet looks like.

Well, I guess what goes around comes around!

@Relic, that area has Clayton addresses even though it is not the city limits, so JoCo Sheriff's Dept has jurisdiction. That section of Big Pine has some very shady activity going on during all hours of the day and night. Cars stop all of the time at one particular house, someone runs in for less than 5 min, or someone comes out to the car window while the car actually stops in the road. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's up. It's really annoying to drive through there and the geniuses don't even get out of the road for oncoming cars. If this guy was an innocent victim, I hope he recovers. I feel sorry for the elderly folks that live there.
