Man shot, killed during confrontation with Northampton deputies

Pleasant Hill, N.C. — A man was shot and killed Friday during a confrontation with deputies in Northampton County.
According to officials with the Northampton County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a domestic dispute near Big Johns Store Road around 7:45 p.m.
At the scene, responders confirmed that a woman was assaulted by her husband during the dispute. The woman, who identified herself to WRAL News as Pam Faison, was able to escape the home and call 911 about a half mile away.
When deputies attempted to take the man into custody, shots were fired, resulting in his death.
Pam Faison identified the man as her husband, Melvin Faison. She said that she believes the shooting was justified, but did not offer further details.
Authorities said that deputies had responded to the Faison home once before for a domestic dispute.
According to officials, the two deputies involved are on administrative leave per departmental policy. The deputies were not injured in the shooting.
