Man shot in Rocky Mount robbery

A Rocky Mount man was shot early Monday during a robbery outside his home, police said.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A Rocky Mount man was shot early Monday during a robbery outside his home, police said.

Raymond Davis, 37, told police that five strange men carrying guns approached him when he got out of his vehicle outside his home on Arlington Street around 2:45 a.m. The men assaulted Davis and stole money from his pockets.

When he tried to run, a gunman fired, striking Davis in the shoulder, police said.

He drove himself to Nash Healthcare Systeams, and police said his injuries were non-life-threatening.
