Raleigh, N.C. — A man, shot and bleeding, banged on doors at the Perry Hill apartments Friday afternoon, screaming for help.
Police said they think the shooting happened in or near the neighborhood playground in the 6500 block of Andron Drive, off Louisburg Road, at about 2:30 p.m.
"I was just scared," said Enass Rezek. She was unsettled by the sight of her children's playground lined with crime scene tape.
"We heard him saying, 'I need help.' He screamed, 'Help, help.'"
The man, Jaaron Fields, 20, was eventually taken to WakeMed. Police said his injuries were not life threatening.
The nearby northern campus of Wake Technical Community College was on lockdown for a few hours while police searched for the shooter.
"Right underneath my apartment, they were running through the woods with guns and the dogs," said Perry Hill resident Lance Wilkinson.
Police said Fields was not a victim of random violence, and by late Friday night they were still looking for his shooter.
