Man shot in face in Fayetteville

— A man was shot in the face near the intersection of Branson and Bryan streets in Fayetteville early Monday morning, police said.

Witnesses told investigators that Michael Fisher, 22, was shot while getting into a parked vehicle shortly after midnight. He was conscious when officers arrived at the scene, police said.

Fisher was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and then transferred to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was listed in critical condition on Tuesday.

    I remember when back in the 70's they used to call this place, "Fayett-Nam." I guess the name still applies. This is ridiculous. I bet there's someone out there right now who blames the gun manufacturer for this crime. This shooter needs to be found and punished...harsher this time than the last time they were in court!

    So sad to read this tragedy. This happens time and time again. Enough is enough. Parents how are you raising yours sons today. It should be a felony for these young people to carry a loaded gun of any kind. My condolences to the family and friends.

    I lived in Fayetteville in the early 90's when my husband was stationed at Bragg. You could not pay me to live there now.
