Man shot in face at Fayetteville party

Fayetteville police said a man was shot in the face during a party off Gillis Hill Road early Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was shot in the face during a party off Gillis Hill Road early Saturday, Fayetteville police said.

The man, whose name wasn't released, was shot by a small-caliber handgun in the right side of the face, police said. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, then airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Police said the circumstances behind the shooting aren't clear. They have not made any arrests.
