Man shot by Fayetteville officer charged with attempted murder

— A man who was shot during an altercation with Fayetteville police last month has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault on a law enforcement official with a firearm, police said.

Herman Harris, 38, of Onyx Court in Fayetteville, was arrested Tuesday.

Police said that, on Aug. 26, officers were dispatched to Covenwood Drive in response to a suspicious activity call. They encountered Harris, who took off running toward King's Cross Apartments on Morganton Road. Officers chased him for about a quarter-mile, a struggle occurred and officer Zachary Pittman shot Harris.

No other information was released.

    You would figure the NAACP would address issues in their community and challege them to work for an education and better life. That way there would be no need for racial profileing.
