Man Shoots Pellet Gun at Parents Outside School

Posted May 30, 2007

— At least one parent was struck by a pellet fired from a passing car outside Vandora Springs Elementary School Wednesday morning, authorities said.

A group of parents was preparing for an event at the school at about 9:30 a.m. when a car drove past and a man leaned out and fired a pellet gun, Assistant Principal Kathy Blair said.

One parent was hit in the back of the neck and shoulder and another might have been hit in the foot, Blair said. Neither person was seriously injured, she said.

No children were outside  at the time, Blair said.

Police are investigating the incident but said they believe it was a case of random violence.

Let me guess... it must be Wake County Schools' fault, right? I just know that they could have prevented this by being psychic and blocking off the road so that the person with the pellet gun couldn't pass by. Oh well... I hope the parent recovers. I know it must be scary. Hope all ends well.

This angers me as a parent. What if a child was hit??? I can not believe the total loss of common sense and complete gain of ignorance these type of people have aquired. I don't care what was fired, the people responsible should be brought up on assault charges and the law expressed to it's full extent. This is outrageous.......

Whoever did this needs to be brought up on charges. What if one of the pellets hit someone's eye or hit a baby being carried by an adult? Pellet gun or 12 gage. Shooting into a group of people is just that. I hope they find this person and prosecute to the fullest extent.

The rednecks I know wouldn't be caught with a pellet gun. A .22 pistol is about as weak as these 'ol boys get.

Gangs will take over because nobody has the kahonies to say or do anything serious about it. Law enforcement can only do so much. It's time to make it illegal to be in a gang, such as Crips, Bloods, MS13, whatever white gangs might be called and so on.....

What kind of people come to mind when the word "gang" is brought up? That's right, you are correct, but you can't say anything about it. Thats PC and liberal BS for you.

@robbin - I think there was a story about 3 years ago (maybe longer) where there were some crips or some other gang group, where 3 of the gang members we're caught and convicted of Murder down around Fayetteville. Its not as bad (yet) as the big cities across our nation but their already here and N.C. needs to nip it in the bud right now before it gets out of hand. To anyone - If I'm wrong just point it out nicely.

only a redneck would do a drive by with a pellet gun though >_> if ur "gangsta" it would be real guns... but luckly that wasnt that case thank god

but yes i have a huge grudge against rednecks around where i live they drive 45-50 in a 20 ... they run over so many cats...dogs... geese and i care more about animals then ppl so yeah.... get my drift?

Was this related to the 10-15 police cars on highway 70 this afternoon around noon near the gas station across from burger king...I happened to be driving out from the gas station onto 70 and found myself in front of a police car with a police officer pulling out his automatic weapon...I have seen nothing on WRAL about this incidence, and since this took place in Garner, perhaps the two were related, but since this held up traffic on highway 70 and a police officer pulled out an automatic, wouldn't this be reported somewhere, here I am wondering why I almost had a heart attack during my lunchbreak...of course I backed up and went out the back way since I certainly didnt' want to get in the midst of a shoot down...i was very very scared!

I "think" casper was aiming that comment toward Ubangi (or so I hope). Anyone shooting at anyone else deserves what they get back..Carrying guns these days does NOT seem like a bad idea, but it seems its the good people who when they defend themselves are the ones to be penalized.
