— A man showed a gun and robbed the SunTrust Bank at 2714 Erwin Road in Durham Monday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

The robbery took place around 10 a.m.

Witnesses said the suspect was a black man wearing a long, black wig, baggy jeans and a dark blue or black shirt. He was seen getting into a dark-colored car with body damage. Another man was driving.

You wouldn't expect the police to be sitting around at the station now would you?

No, I would never guess that there would be at least 1 officer at the sub station... or anywhere around it... DPD is so overwhelmed with how horrible durham is I think they just give up. Then again the working people are getting screwed by Bev 'Im a horrible governor' Perdue's wonderful budget. State workers dont need a COL adjustment for 3-4 years now... yet the welfare/food stamp recipients and illegals receive free education and insurance. Maybe police would be a little more pro-active if you didn't keep getting punched in the gut with bad news year after year....

As an ex-state employee who lost my job becuase of 'budget cuts'... I understand the lack or morale. I was low paid and was making less money after working 3 years at the place then I did when I first started, because of increased insurance premiums, taxes, etc.

It's a good thing we don't have a picture of him because someone might identify him.

I seriously want to know how so many banks get robbed in durham, and PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH IT! What happened to dye packs, GPS tracking devices hidden inside the money, police spotting the vehicle, etc? I know this isn't TV/hollywood, but you would think at least half of the bank robbers would be caught after leaving, which statically the highest point you will get caught (leaving in a vehicle)

"Yes the banks do rip people off, but not with a gun. The goverment allows them to do it. Both Rep. and Dem."

IF, it's true that banks rip people off, then people allow it to happen, with their concent.

Good point Johnny, 18% interest is a little high. If we could afford a sniper of legal authority to "off" these pillars of society, then I think I would feel better.
