Man robbed inside room at Raleigh hotel

Posted January 7, 2015

Raleigh police are investigating a man's report after he says he was robbed Jan. 7, 2015, in a room at an Extended Stay America on Glenwood Avenue.

— Police on Wednesday took several people into custody after a man reported being robbed in a room at a hotel off Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.

Employees at Extended Stay America, at 4810 Bluestone Drive, said the man – wearing only boxer shorts – ran into the hotel's office shortly before 8 a.m. and said two people – hiding in the bathroom of a room where he was meeting a prostitute – robbed him.

"I was going in to visit a girl that I met, and she went in – and I don't know, this dude came out of the bathroom and he had a gun," the man said in a 911 call released Wednesday afternoon.

"They got my money, my car keys. I ran out of the room. I was barely naked," he told the 911 dispatcher, adding that the two men and woman fled in a silver Oldsmobile Alero.

Police found a car matching the description at a BP station near Crabtree Valley Mall – about 1.5 miles from the hotel – and took several people in for questioning, a police spokeswoman said.

Investigators had not commented further on the case Wednesday morning, and it was not clear if anyone was arrested.

Why not? You know that in some places where prostitution was made legal, drugs and sex crimes lowered. It's the world's oldest profession. Making it illegal is precisely like the war on drugs and prohibition. It is legal in many places around the world, including most of western Europe.

Seems to be an honest person telling all the details to be sure they can be caught.
Hopefully they don't release his name. Invasion of privacy - he was the victim here.
    Who said he's married?

Yes, we should require citizens of this free country to show their papers for everything they do, even though we're trying to prevent a small percentage of crime.

If the crime rate was 25 - 50% you might have a point. But it's not.

More regulation on the free people of this country solves nothing.

Poor guy got set up. That's what happens when you play with fire. At least he didn't get shot. Just a dig at his pride.
