Man Robbed Bank With Bomb Threat

Posted June 14, 2007

— Police say a man robbed a bank in Hope Mills with a bomb threat.

The robbery happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday at the First South Bank on North Main Street.

Investigators say the robber put a bag on the counter and threatened to detonate a bomb by remote control if anyone called police. A bomb was never found.

Witnesses said the robber ran out the side door and into the woods with an undisclosed amount of money. So far, there have been no arrests in the case.

Thanks Jokers Wild, I knew someone would know.

The bomb threat could be more serious than the bank robery, if they label it in the terrorist catagory from what I understand. If caught He may not ever get out. It is true when people are on foot, it's harder to catch them. One dude robbed one with a bicycle and he didn't got caught

People do anything for money - they seem so desperate these days - drugs, stress - who knows why. Greed is a huge factor and doing it with the "bomb" scare is way out there.......

he'll probably get away with it. most the time the ones who rob a bank on foot dont get caught. surprisingly enough but true.

Milky, Law Enforcement is responsible for that. Just because It was a bank, does not mean they have or had good security camera coverage either. They could be reviewing the tape and want to wait on the release, or they could be having the tape enhanced by the SBI or FBI since this is a federal crime.

Have heard the bump in the night, have called, and again just stopped traffic. Next time take care of the bump my self.

Re: "Hope Mills finest can't stop a bank robber, but boy they sure can cause traffic to stop."

You will still call them when you hear something go bump in the night.

They'll throw this one under the jail if they catch him. Using a bomb threat is very serious in robbing a bank.

Thanking God no one was hurt.

    God bless.

Pictures help in these cases. Does anyone know if it is up to law enforcement or the bank to provide security images to the media. I have noticed that when banks are robbed in Wake county, the media posts the images very quickly.

get out there and do their job for them then.
