RALEIGH, N.C. — A man returned to Raleigh on Friday to face a first-degree murder charge in the 2013 death of a 6-month-old.

Jorge Jovany Acevedo had been arrested in Virginia and waived extradition earlier this week, according to court records.

Acevedo, 20, is charged in the death of a baby boy who died on Oct. 4, 2013, from injuries suffered in a home in the 3000 block of Stonybrook Drive. Police said he was caring for the child at the time but wasn't related to him.

He was being held without bond in the Wake County jail.
