— A man was hospitalized Thursday after rescue crews pulled him from Lochmere Lake in Cary, a town spokeswoman said.

A passerby saw the man shortly after 4:30 p.m. and called 911.

The man, whose name and condition were not released, was wearing jogging attire. He was taken to WakeMed.

Investigators were collecting evidence at the scene to determine what happened.

A portion of the Swift Creek Greenway and the westbound lane of Lochmere Driver were closed temporarily while authorities were on scene.

Well Brad Copper didn't do this, just like he didn't kill NC...the truth will come out one day... Sorry for this man's family and friends.

I hope there was no foul play. Cary is not a stranger to violent crime. Nonetheless, our thoughts should be with his family now until the authorities can find out more.

"Wondering if he was mugged. Joggers do get attacked, even in Lochmere."

I do not recall a single incident of anyone being attacked in Lochmere. It likely is the most crime free area in the US (other than the Brad Cooper case!)

This is not a swimming lake.....but has a jogging trail all around it and in many places close to the water. By the way they have the wrong lake on the attached map....the guy was in the one near Kildaire farm road.

It certainly was a nice night for a swim.

"Let's not jump to conclusions about the swimming thing, people. He was in jogging attire, who's to say he didn't have a heart attack, fell over into the lake unconscious & didn't have the strength to swim or stay afloat, or even become conscious again in the first place! Let's just pray for his recovery and wait for more details!

worth repeating!!! A medical condition was my first, and actually only, thought about this. Hope the guy will be ok.
