CLAYTON, N.C. — A Clayton man was severely burned after his Jeep burst into flames Friday night.

Authorities said the man, who was not identified, was about 50 feet from the driveway of his home in the 200 block of Rowan Drive when his Jeep Wrangler caught fire at about 7:30 p.m.

The man was able to escape from the vehicle, but received second- and third-degree burns as a result.
