— A Raleigh man pleaded guilty Friday to a double slaying last October.

James Whitaker, 22, of 537 Granite St., pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to at least five years in prison.

Whitaker and Jamieson Jamal Tuck, 18, were charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 29 deaths of two men in a home near Chavis Park. Jeremiah Stirrup, 23, and Lashawn Perez, 21, were shot multiple times with an AK-47-style weapon, investigators said.

Whitaker's girlfriend was charged as an accessory to the crime.
