— Octavius Dickens pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder Thursday in the shooting of a man on Independence Day 2009.

Dickens was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for shooting Lanorris Smalls at 520 Dexter St. in Rocky Mount.

Smalls was found with a gunshot wound in his neck. He told police that he was walking when two men on a bike approached him. Dickens shot and robbed him, and they both fled on the bike, police said.

Rocky Mount, carry your own weapon, its not safe out there, even if the guy gets caught he will be out before your child graduates high school.

Its the mentality of our DA, look at his statements: “Our babies are still under attack from this system,” he said. “They are under attack by the school system. They are under attack by the court system. And whether somebody wants to acknowledge it or not, they are under attack and almost to the point where we are eliminating entire generations, particularly of young black men.”

Evans urged parents to challenge “discriminatory practices in our schools.” He said children are ending up having criminal records for foolish acts that used to be punished by spankings.
Juneteenth celebration speech given by DA Robert Evans....the man appointed to enforce the law.....who just authorized his ADA to make the deal to give a 12-15 year deal (not even 15) to a murderer.
