Man pleads guilty in January 2000 gunfight

Posted May 22, 2008

A fugitive who was on the run for seven years pleaded guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter in a gunfight that ended with another man's death.

Andrew Lynch was arrested in April 2007 in Georgia for the Jan. 28, 2000, death of Alden Michael Augustine. Investigators said the two men knew each other.

Lynch received a 13- to 16-month prison sentence but was given credit for time served.

I'm not sue, maybe because both parties willingly participated in the gunfight. Maybe the lesser included offence. it does seem strange that it wouldn't be voluntary manslaughter.

Now I'm really confused. I just read the story in the N&O and it looks like he shot the guy he meant to shoot. That seems pretty "voluntary" to me. Again, no name for the defender of justice. BTW he should get out this summer.

Somehow this seems incomplete without the judge's name. Was it involuntary manslaughter because he killed the wrong person???
