A woman was sexually assaulted Friday night in Fayetteville after accepting a ride from a man driving a pickup truck, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A woman was sexually assaulted Friday night in Fayetteville after accepting a ride from a man driving a pickup truck, police said.

The assault was reported around 8:50 p.m. in the area of Sapona Road in east Fayetteville, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Police said the victim was in the area of B. Street near Grove Street when she got in the truck with the suspect. The man drove to an area along Sapona Road where he assaulted the victim and committed a forcible sexual offense.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black man in his 50s. He is roughly 6 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs about 250 pounds and appeared to have "distorted teeth," according to police. The man had short black-and-gray hair, was unshaven, and was wearing a red shirt with white writing, blue jeans and a tan flat-billed hat.

Police said the man was driving a black four-door Ford F-150.
