CARY, N.C. — A man who went missing from a Cary group home on Saturday has been found safe in Robeson County, Cary police announced Tuesday.

David Anthony Johnson, 50, has gone missing from the same Cary group home twice in less than a year. Silver Alerts were issued for him in both cases.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alerts quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
