Man kills self during traffic stop in Vance County
A man shot and killed himself Saturday after being pulled over by a state trooper in Vance County, according to the state Highway Patrol.
Posted — UpdatedBULLOCK, N.C. — A man shot and killed himself Saturday after being pulled over by a state trooper in Vance County, according to the state Highway Patrol.
A trooper stopped a white Buick that he had clocked speeding along Tungsten Mine Road, near N.C. Highway 39, around 5:45 p.m., authorities said.
When the trooper approached the car, the driver showed a gun, troopers said. The trooper retreated to his cruiser to call for back-up.
The driver then shot and killed himself, troopers said.
