— Police in Rocky Mount say they don't believe a shooting that left a man dead and a teenager wounded was random.

Officers responding to 226 Jefferson St. around 9 p.m. Monday found Michael Tavira, 21, dead and the 17-year-old boy wounded.

The teen, whose name police did not release, was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Investigators have not released any other details about the case but urge anyone with information to call the Rocky Mount Police Department at 252-972-1411 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
