— An Amtrak train hit and killed a man southwest of downtown Fayetteville Thursday afternoon, police said.

Baxter Neal Graham Jr., 46, was lying on the tracks near the intersection of Owen Drive and Cumberland Road when the northbound train came through just after 1 p.m., said Gavin MacRoberts, a spokesman for the Fayetteville Police Department.

Police are investigating why Graham was on the tracks, MacRoberts said.

I have written this before and it was not published...This is not a new or novel occurance. The granite deposited at the tracks holds heat, as do the rails and creosoted wood. In addition, it is a clear avenue for people to walk or gather. The incidents of these deaths are not new to this area, as are not the occaisions where people are struck in the roads while prone--hence the term "prone pedestrain", which is a legal one.

No, if you had a bit of gas that, most likely came from the Republicans:)

Obama will be re-elected. There is no one in the race that offers anything better. - artist

Not really sure how this became a political discussion, but since you mentioned it, no way Obama will be re-elected. And I did vote for him! Won't make that mistake again!

"How are you and the whiners going to be able to live with President Obama being in office for the next five years?"

Obama will be re-elected. There is no one in the race that offers anything better.

However, this will not be positive for the poor. The rest of us will do just fine.

You wanna know how to avoid being hit by a train?

Take a big step either to the left or to the right.

The tracks are usually a good indicator that something in that general area is gonna happen.

I don't care how fast the trains are going. If you don't watch out for them, you're going to be the one hit. They can't stop on a dime, it takes many thousands of feet. People who commit suicide by making someone do it for them are just wrong!

It is not the railroads fault or anybody elses fault that they are getting hit but their own. Anytime you go on the tracks you are trespassing on railroad property and taking that chance of getting hit. So the people that blame the railroad need to get over it.

"Sad. So what do the libs want to do? Have the trains go faster -- high speed rail.

I just looked out my window and it's raining. President Obama and the "libs" are responsible. How are you and the whiners going to be able to live with President Obama being in office for the next five years?

People, he was laying on the tracks. That isn't a cozy place to nap. Messy way to suicide but it takes all kinds.-OlForrester

Yep, I agree. Unless he was very drunk or drugged up. Not a pretty way to go!
