Man killed in wrong-way crash in Nash County

State troopers are investigating a fatal wrong-way crash that occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 264 near Bailey.

BAILEY, N.C. — State troopers are investigating a fatal wrong-way crash that occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 264 near Bailey.

According to officials with the Highway Patrol, a 2004 Mazda was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 264 when it struck a 2017 Lexus. The driver of the Mazda, 47-year-old Randolph Lee, died at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus, 36-year-old Abrahim Salama, from Raleigh, was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. His condition is unknown.

The crash remains under investigation, but officials do not believe alcohol to be involved.
