Man killed in Vance County moped hit-and-run

One person was killed Friday morning after a hit-and-run accident involving a moped in Vance County.

VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — One person was killed Friday morning after a hit-and-run accident involving a moped in Vance County.

Officials said the operator of the moped, Christopher Leon Terry, 52, of Henderson, was traveling south on Facet Road and collided with a GMC SUV traveling north. As a result of the collision, Terry was ejected from the moped.

Authorities said the driver of the SUV, Celso Hernandez Ramirez, 40, of Henderson, fled the scene after the accident. Officials arrested and charged Ramirez on Saturday for the death of Terry.

Ramirez was charged with felony hit and run, felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license.

Ramirez was being held at the Vance County jail under a $75,000 secured bond.
