Posted March 12, 2016

— One person was killed Friday morning after a hit-and-run accident involving a moped in Vance County.

Officials said the operator of the moped, Christopher Leon Terry, 52, of Henderson, was traveling south on Facet Road and collided with a GMC SUV traveling north. As a result of the collision, Terry was ejected from the moped.

Authorities said the driver of the SUV, Celso Hernandez Ramirez, 40, of Henderson, fled the scene after the accident. Officials arrested and charged Ramirez on Saturday for the death of Terry.

Ramirez was charged with felony hit and run, felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license.

Ramirez was being held at the Vance County jail under a $75,000 secured bond.

It's time the system does something to discourage this type of action. Give this bum about 25-30 years and start making that the norm for those that do this business. Word will spread that NC is not going to tolerate DWI, suspended, hit & run, and or a combination of them. Too many innocents getting killed because the system is failing them and their families.
