FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One person was killed Monday night following a shooting at a Fayetteville home.

Police officers responded to the 7600 block of West Netherland Drive just before 9 p.m. in reference to a reported breaking and entering.

Officers found Elvin Torres-Albert, 43, had been shot and was lying near the front door inside the home. Officers administered CPR, but he died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Investigators said Torres-Albert was involved in a verbal dispute with the homeowner, Juan Carlos Navarro, and that he entered the home without permission. Torres-Albert didn't leave when asked, and Navarro shot him several times, police said.

Navarro, 26, was charged with second-degree murder and was being held without bond in the Cumberland County jail.
