— A motorcycle driver died following a collision with another vehicle Sunday night in north Raleigh.

The wreck happened about 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hollenden Drive and Spring Forest Road.

Raleigh police said Reychel Larishna Campos McGregor, 19, was driving a sedan west on Spring Forest Road when she tried to turn left on Hollenden Drive and collided with a motorcycle driven by Joseph Edwin Alles, 54.

Alles was taken to WakeMed, where he died from his injuries. A passenger on his motorcycle, Wendy Ingram Sparta, 48, was also taken to the hospital and was listed in fair condition Monday morning.

Neither McGregor nor the passenger in her vehicle was seriously injured.

McGregor faces charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, failure to yield the right of way and operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license.

"I'm no agent but I'm pretty sure you've got to provide your DL number in order to get and keep insurance." umop apisdn

you are incorrect. you have to at least have liability insurance to get your licence. no number is required to get insurance

Things sure are different here in North Carolina. My girlfriend was on the phone, her brother was nagging at her for a ride. She got mad and threw her car keys at him. He took the car and hit someone. Even though she didn't give him permission, she had to go to court just for making her keys accessible to him. He had no license. It sounds like they got in more trouble that this girl will.
PS- I owned a motorcycle in Raleigh. I sold it. Every time I took it out, it was like I had a bulls-eye on my back and everyone was out to be rude to me, or purposely cut me off. As fun as motorcycles are, Raleigh is NOT motorcycle, Nor Bike friendly... No Sir, it's not.

JPE said: "Unless I misread the NC statutes,if her family,et al sues her for his death, she won't have a valid license until the judgment is settled (paid)."

JPE, Sad to say, but it probably doesn't matter. Laws obviously mean absolutely nothing to her. She has shown a blatant disregard to the NC statute regarding driving without a license. License or not, she can still get behind the wheel and possibly take another life.

It is past time for making an example out of these illegal drivers and killing motorcyclists. She should spend a couple decades behind bars for the murder she committed. mojaintsmall

operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license.

She should never see the light of day again.

Misdemeanor death by vehicle? It's unbelievable that she killed someone and that's all they charge her with. How about involuntary manslaughter? It fits the definition.

FYI--- she is just 19. My guess is that her provisional license expired and she never got a new one. The 8 year term for a license doesn't apply to younger drivers. That could be how she had insurance but no license. Also, car could have been insured and not the driver.
