— A Fayetteville man was killed Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash at Eastern Boulevard and Old Wilmington Road.

Kenneth Jerome Gamble Jr., 38, was driving a 2011 Hyundai in a southbound lane of Old Wilmington Road when he collided with a Ford pickup truck driven by Stanley Britt, 54, authorities said. The impact of the crash caused Gamble's car to hit a 2007 Kia, driven by Rufus Herbert McLean, 67, who was waiting to turn right on to Eastern Boulevard.

Gamble was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

Neither McLean nor Britt were injured, police said.

The crash is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the traffic office at 910-433-1036.

My heart goes out to everyone involved. I saw the car yesterday on my way home my thought was if anyone survived that crash it would be a miracle.

Coach Kenny will be very missed. He was a remarkable man who gave so much to his family and the teams he coached. He has made such an impact on the many lives that he touched.
