A man was killed Tuesday evening in a shooting at Clinton home, according to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting at 17 Sylvia Lane shortly before 6 p.m. When they arrived, they found a family member trying to resuscitate the victim, whose name was not released.

He died at the scene.

The sheriff's office and State Bureau of Investigation were still processing evidence and interviewing witnesses at the home as of 11 p.m.

No suspect information or possible motives were released.

"Golorealist, I'm not looking for a solution where nobody would die from guns. I'm just hoping for a solution that would save some of the people that die from guns. Do you think that is something we should not strive for?"

i agree we should strive for that, if there's a rational solution. i'm just not sure what the rational solution is. what steps do you take today to keep the guns out of the hands of people that will murder somebody tomorrow? an assault weapons ban won't do that. a limit on the rounds a magazine can hold won't do that. better background checks MAY work in some limited cases. limiting the number of guns somebody can own won't do that. i'm just not sure what will work.

Golorealist, I'm not looking for a solution where nobody would die from guns. I'm just hoping for a solution that would save some of the people that die from guns. Do you think that is something we should not strive for?

Puzzled, please tell me where I said that you should have to be beaten and raped because I think that you should not have a gun. And what makes you think I'm a liberal? People of all stripes are looking for a solution to this problem.

Are you open to changes that might avoid some of those killing that might not happen if there was no gun, if they don't remove your right to own your gun? Will you return to defend your position or have you already darted off to attack someone else?

"I wonder what would have happened if the shooter hadn't had a gun......perhaps they would have just had one heck of a fist fight. If so, maybe one of them wouldn't be dead (and the other being hunted) right now." - letscare

you're absolutely right, letscare. nobody would die from guns if nobody had a gun. now, tell me how you make it so that nobody has a gun.

letscare Maybe some killings would not happen if there was no gun, but why should I have to be beaten and raped because liberals like you think that I should not have a gun? You just don't get it do you? Some of us don't have the funds to live in guarded homes/work places, etc. We live right here in this real world that has been allowed because of special interst groups to become so controlled by evil people. Little groups can always say what we ought not to do but they don't have answers when their liberal thinking allows evil people so much leave way. Evil is evil and will always be evil. Maybe when we all learn that the absence of teaching good Godly principles is leaving only evil to control.
