"Golorealist, I'm not looking for a solution where nobody would die from guns. I'm just hoping for a solution that would save some of the people that die from guns. Do you think that is something we should not strive for?"

i agree we should strive for that, if there's a rational solution. i'm just not sure what the rational solution is. what steps do you take today to keep the guns out of the hands of people that will murder somebody tomorrow? an assault weapons ban won't do that. a limit on the rounds a magazine can hold won't do that. better background checks MAY work in some limited cases. limiting the number of guns somebody can own won't do that. i'm just not sure what will work.

Puzzled, please tell me where I said that you should have to be beaten and raped because I think that you should not have a gun. And what makes you think I'm a liberal? People of all stripes are looking for a solution to this problem.

Are you open to changes that might avoid some of those killing that might not happen if there was no gun, if they don't remove your right to own your gun? Will you return to defend your position or have you already darted off to attack someone else?

"I wonder what would have happened if the shooter hadn't had a gun......perhaps they would have just had one heck of a fist fight. If so, maybe one of them wouldn't be dead (and the other being hunted) right now." - letscare

you're absolutely right, letscare. nobody would die from guns if nobody had a gun. now, tell me how you make it so that nobody has a gun.

Maybe some killings would not happen if there was no gun, but why should I have to be beaten and raped because liberals like you think that I should not have a gun? You just don't get it do you? Some of us don't have the funds to live in guarded homes/work places, etc. We live right here in this real world that has been allowed because of special interst groups to become so controlled by evil people. Little groups can always say what we ought not to do but they don't have answers when their liberal thinking allows evil people so much leave way. Evil is evil and will always be evil. Maybe when we all learn that the absence of teaching good Godly principles is leaving only evil to control.

Anderson, I don't know why you think I don't like guns. I don't own one, but I have no problem with you owning one. I'm just tired of hearing stories like this when I believe some of them could be avoided if we made some common sense adjustments. And I'm tired of folks who are resistant to ANY change, no matter how much it might help and how little it might actually effect them.

Back in the days of the roman empire, they didn't have guns. But, you can bet swords and knives wrecked havoc on armies of troops and citizens alike. If the local towns banned law abiding citizens from owning a sword, the bad guys would've come in and slaughtered entire families by the dozens. In fact, history shows that mass killings happened even without such prohibited weapons. Thus, no matter what the weapon of the day is, if someone is going to kill someone, they'll use a baseball bat if they have to.

Anderson, that answer is too easy. We can't take the easy way out on this because we are talking about people's lives.

Yes, if someone wants to kill another badly enough they are going to find a way to do it. However, I that is not always the case. Sometimes it's someone who got angry, had access to a gun, and later regretted it. Once the trigger is pulled, it's too late......one is dead and the other is in prison. What about those people......do we just write them off??

We obviously aren't going to agree on this...you don't like guns...I have guns for hunting and to protect myself and my family..but if someone tries to break into my house and I'm home, they won't get past the door...can you say the same for yours?

Anderson, I admitted that some would still be killings. And I am quite certain that these two would NOT have given each other a big hug. But, why can't you admit that some of these events would NOT still be killings without a gun?? I am quite certain that some would not. And I would like to find a way to save those people (both the victims and the shooters). How about you?

I can't say it because I don't know it's true...if you want to kill someone badly enough you are going to find a way to do it...we really don't know enough details about the crime to make any judgements yet anyway...was it a burglary gone wrong, civil dispute, random murder...no telling
