GARNER, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting at a Garner apartment complex Tuesday evening.

Authorities responded to the Delmont apartments at 209 Johnson Street just before 6:30 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound. Authorities on Wednesday identified him as Donnie Laquan Finney, 27, of Garner. He was rushed for medical treatment to WakeMed, where he was pronounced dead.

A second victim who was also hurt during the incident was listed Wednesday in stable condition at WakeMed. Authorities declined to identify him, citing an ongoing investigation into the shooting.

Neighbors said they heard arguing followed by about 10 gunshots. They said the dispute started over a parking spot.

"[There's] just a whole lot of information we don't know yet. We have a couple of witnesses out here that we're trying to talk with, trying to get information from them," said Garner Police Capt. Joe Binns.

Investigators on Tuesday night were focusing on a section of the complex where shattered glass was visible.

"CCBI will be out to process the crime scene, collect evidence," Binns said. "We'll be here for quite some time tonight."

A second man arrived at WakeMed shortly after the shooting at the apartment complex and authorities said that man was connected with the incident.

Although authorities did not release the names of the people involved in the shooting, they said they are not looking for anybody else in connection with the shooting.

"We don't think, at this point, that there is any danger to the public," Binns said.
