— A Roanoke Rapids man has been accused of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday.

Investigators said Joshua Andrea Garner, 23, took a woman by force and displayed a gun to her inside a vehicle. He took the victim to his home on Jim Martin Drive, just outside Roanoke Rapids.

The woman managed to get out of the house and was picked up by sheriff's deputies. She was unharmed.

The deputies arrested Garner at his home without incident. He was charged with first-degree kidnapping.

Garner was being held at the Halifax County Jail under a $10,000 bond on Monday morning. His first court appearance was set for July 30.

This story doesn't even sound right.

He took her to his house? Then she manages to get away and the deputies find her?

I bet his defense is more credible than this report.

"$10,000 bond for kidnapping with a firearm is ridiculous."

AMEN, AND AMEN!!! NO BOND FOR KIDNAPPING WHETHER A FIREARM IS USED OR NOT.

"What was his motive? why would he do that?"

WHO CARES WHAT HIS MOTIVE IS? HE BEHAVED LIKE A SELFISH RABID ANIMAL AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH.

Praying for his victim...that she be forever safe.

    God bless.

What is wrong with the judgement of people in Roanoke Rapids? Must be something in the water. $10,000 bond for kidnapping with a firearm is ridiculous.

What was his motive? why would he do that? Take such a risk, for what?

Glad the woman was unharmed and the man was caught.

That's no very much bond for a kidnapping charge. They wuually put them up into the 100's thousands. What gives here.
