Roanoke Rapids, N.C. — A Roanoke Rapids man has been accused of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday.
Investigators said Joshua Andrea Garner, 23, took a woman by force and displayed a gun to her inside a vehicle. He took the victim to his home on Jim Martin Drive, just outside Roanoke Rapids.
The woman managed to get out of the house and was picked up by sheriff's deputies. She was unharmed.
The deputies arrested Garner at his home without incident. He was charged with first-degree kidnapping.
Garner was being held at the Halifax County Jail under a $10,000 bond on Monday morning. His first court appearance was set for July 30.
