Man injured while riding lawn mower in Moore County

— A man was seriously injured Sunday night after an SUV hit him while he was riding a lawn mower on a Moore County road.

Authorities said Gregory Short, 60, was riding in the middle of Murdocksville Road near West End when an SUV hit him just before 9 p.m.

The man was flown to Duke University Hospital. The extent of his injuries were unclear Sunday night.

No one in the SUV was injured, authorities said.

    Maybe he rode his mower over and mowed friend's lawn and then stayed for dinner and was driving home.

    awe ... vary sad, and the tractor was probably too loud to hear the vehicle coming -- assuming it was from behind him. My lawn tractor doesn't have tail lights.

    Sorry to hear this and I hope he is okay. BTW Murdocksville Road is much closer Pinehurst than it is to West End.

    I'm thinking it's "don't ride an unregistered vehicle with no lights in the middle of the road at night". You know, that's one thing my parents never needed to tell me...
