Man injured in Red Springs home invasion

Posted July 5, 2011

— Authorities in Hoke County are looking for two people wanted in connection with a home invasion and shooting over the weekend.

Hoke County sheriff's deputies were called to a home on North Hilltop Road around 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, where they found James Crump, 58, shot in the knee.

Crump was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital for treatment, authorities said. He was later transferred to a Charlotte hospital.

The extent of his injuries was unclear.

According to investigators, Crump told detectives that two men wielding a double-barreled shotgun kicked in his door and shot him.

Investigators were unsure if anything was taken from Crump's home "due to the victim's status."

Authorities only had a vague description of one of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the crime should contact the Hoke County Sheriff's Office at 919-875-5111.

Yet another reason why I own multiple guns and keep them in multiple rooms.

Hope they catch these cowards. I also there is a good description given when he's able and it's add to the news report. As the posted below state, maybe next time the owner will have a gun and stop these crooks.

Too bad Mr. Crump did not have firearms. He could have removed two attempted murders from society with two pulls of the trigger. Maybe this will be their due fate for the next house they break into - we can all hope! The revised “castle” law is on our side now.
