Man injured in Orange County fire

A Chapel Hill man sustained injuries during a house fire Wednesday evening, which investigators believe was caused by unattended cooking materials.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A Chapel Hill man sustained injuries during a house fire Wednesday evening, which investigators believe was caused by unattended cooking materials.

Kim Anderson received second- and third-degree burns to about 55 percent of his body, mainly on his upper torso, according to Carrboro Fire Department officials.

The fire started at about 9 p.m. at a home on the 8800 block of Oxford Court.

Paramedics transported Anderson to the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. The hospital declined to release any information about his condition.
