— A grand jury returned an indictment of involuntary manslaughter Monday against the man accused of causing a fatal wreck in Raleigh Dec. 2.

Aleksey Glazunov, 24, of 3521 Piedmont Drive, was passing another vehicle on Skycrest Drive  when he lost control and slammed head-on into a car being driven by Teresa Bagley Weintraub, police said.

Weintraub, 57, was on her way to work at Duke Raleigh Hospital when she died, police said.

Police originally charged Glazunov with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and aggressive driving, but added the charge of involuntary manslaughter after a look at his driving record, which shows a history of speeding violations.

I'm not defending this guy for his irresponsible driving, which allegedly caused this tragic loss of life, but I wouldn't peg him as a total loser. He apparently is either very responsible in some ways, because he has owned the home at the listed address for the past four and a half years, or he comes from a family who helped him become a homeowner at the age of 20. I don't know a lot of 20 year olds who own their own home these days. This is a tragic loss for the nurse, her family, and society. JMO

Need to up the sentence for manslaughter, otherwise it is going to be meaningless.

I'm pretty sure if he was an illegal alien or if he lacked insurance we'd know it by now, donnie

I can't help but wonder if he was citizen of the US and NC? or just another crazy driver with no insurance, no license and no concern for anyone but himself.

This guy just does not care and needs to be off the streets for a long time if not forever.

People like Mr. Glazunov, are not going to except responsibility for there actions. It is up to the rest of us to make people like him stop and think before doing the stupid things they do on a daily bases in this country. This is clearly a preventable accident. The only question that should be up for discussion is how long will this fool be in jail, or is he every going to get out of jail. Period! Until we do a gut check for people like him. Each and everyone of us is just a blink away from being one of these fools many victims. THEY WILL NOT STOP ON THEIR OWN!!!!!! If we had the ability to look back at his life, I bet you'd see he was never going to be anything but stupid! Who knows what this poor lady might have done with the rest of her life? It appears she was well on her way to being a productive citizen! We don't have the right to take his life, but we can prevent him from harming another citizen. WAKE UP PEOPLE, THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!
